About the Coalition

The Fredericton Trails Coalition was established in the early 1990s to advocate for an interconnected trail system that would make Fredericton “a leader in promoting active transportation, maintaining a sustainable urban environment, and enhancing recreational opportunities.” Today we are a small group of dedicated volunteers still working toward that goal.

As of 2023, we are proud to have surpassed 120 kilometers of trails, and we applaud the City of Fredericton staff for their success in developing a trail system that is integral to the quality of life for residents. 2024 President’s Message here.

Our Commitments

• We support the City of Fredericton in its ongoing implementation of the 20-year Trails and Bikeways Masterplan, designed to encourage non-motorized forms of transport in everyday activities, including broadening the accessibility and year-round use of the trails in the city center by paving selected stretches.
• We support the Healthy Eating Physical Activity Coalition of New Brunswick Program HEPAC and continue to encourage mobile transportation with safe and considerate behavior on our trails for all. 

Our Governance

Our projects and advocacy are enacted by the Board of Directors. We hold monthly meetings on the third Wednesdays of January–July and September–November, with our Annual General Meeting in March. The next Annual General Meeting of the Fredericton Trails Coalition will be held on March 20, 2024. 

All are welcome and we invite new volunteers with new ideas to join us! If you have a little free time and a love of Fredericton’s trails, please get in touch.
