Get Involved
The Fredericton Trails Coalition is a volunteer-run, non-profit public service organization. We are the community voice for the promotion of an environmentally friendly transportation network and recreational trail system that aims to enhance the health and quality of life of those who live in and visit our city. We meet on the third Wednesday of every month – click here to join!
What We Do
We uphold the principle that Fredericton’s trails are greenway trails reserved for non-motorized use: walkers, runners, cyclists, cross-country skiers, snowshoes, etc. We host activities and events to promote the trails, including:
- run the Adopt-A-Trail program which encourages local groups to take a section of city trail under their care, and host a special “trail clean-up week” each spring
- host Parks & Trails Day celebrations on the first Saturday in June
- produce a Trail Guide in partnership with the City of Fredericton
- work closely with the Fredericton Parks & Trees Division to enhance the trails and fulfill our vision of a superb trail network in this great city
Our Projects
Before & After: Valley Trail Mural by Trackside Studios, 2021
Fredericton Trails Coalition continues to look for ways to encourage all residents and visitors to use and enjoy our trails. In 2021, we partnered with the New Brunswick Provincial Exhibition (NBEx) to commission a mural on the south-facing walls of the NBEx horse barns. The stunning 400-foot work by Trackside Studios brought a sense of pride and community to the neighbourhood. The Valley Trail Mural was inaugurated on September 6, 2021, by the Honourable Brenda Murphy, New Brunswick’s 32nd Lieutenant Governor.
- 2023 – had a free BBQ for Fredericton Kindness Week
- 2022 – hosted the City’s first Parks & Trail Day celebration since the pandemic began; gave out freezies on a hot summer day; held a community engagement session at Station House
- 2021 – commissioned the Valley Trail Mural; installed 10 new benches along trails; hosted Art on the Bridge; donated longboards to Fredericton Public Library for community use.
- 2020 – installed a solar LED light at the south end of the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge
- 2018 – established the Tara Savage Memorial Fund with the Fredericton Community Foundation, an endowment that supports the recreation and enjoyment of trail use in Fredericton.
